Contemporary

Contemporary Dance is a creative, interpretive and free-flowing style combining strong technique in ballet and jazz to produce beautiful and meaningful routines. Contemporary Dance is not a specific dance technique but a collection of methods developed from modern and post-modern dance and can take on many forms.
Classes focus on awareness of body, space and self-expression. We encourage natural, spontaneous movement and personal interpretation with changes in rhythm and speed, fall and recovery and floor work.
Contemporary Dance choreography usually tells a story or portrays a theme and teaches dancers to express emotions and feelings behind their performances. This style is a great accompaniment to ballet dancers as it teachers the dancer how to use ballet technique to extract meaning from dance.
Must be enrolled in a minimum of 2 classes of Ballet a week to enrol in contemporary dance.
